Profile
What began as an interest in helping language learners developed into a business driven by compassion and ambition to help students succeed!
Jessica had always been driven to help others achieve their full potential since high school when she helped tutor her best friend who was struggling in her classes due to her disability and managed to help her friend skyrocket to the honor roll! Seeing her friend succeed, she continued to help others throughout her college career by working at the tutoring center at New Paltz alongside getting her degree in Psychology with a focus on Speech-Language Pathology and a minor in Romantic Language, graduating in 2018.
At the pandemic’s start, our founder, Jessica Gonzalez, began assisting students in learning English through the popular platform VIP Kids. When the platform shut down, she realized many kids still needed help and access to resources. From there, she began working for an educational tutoring platform called Bansho which helped students lacking academic support in their schools. When the platform shut down in the spring of 2022 and she realized most of her students needed extra help and attention due to their disabilities or backgrounds, she took it upon herself to continue helping them.
Eventually, she found herself focusing on students with disabilities similar to her sister and best friend and first-generation students like her parents. This is why she created The Village Tutoring; not only is it a small collective of tutors helping students in a variety of subjects but it also provides mentorship for students who may feel lost in the education system who may need extra support.
